After careful deliberation among the organizational and steering committee, we have decided to hold CHI PLAY 2021 as an online-only conference.
As the organizers of CHI PLAY 2021, we are committed to providing an inclusive, safe, and respectful conference environment for all attendees. Given the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic the situation remains particularly difficult and uncertain. We have thus decided to make this decision early to ensure the safety of our international community and allow participants to plan ahead. It also provides us with the necessary time to shape an exciting virtual playful experience, building upon last year’s successful virtual edition.
All authors will be able to present their work remotely. The conference dates and call for papers remain unaffected by this change in format. Many thanks to everyone who has submitted to the full papers track which received 169 papers. Should you have missed the full paper deadline there are still many opportunities to contribute such as the Work in progress, Rapid Communications, Interactivity, Student Game Design Competition, and Doctoral Consortium tracks (Deadline: July, 16th).
If you have questions, feedback, or suggestions please feel free to contact us at gc@chiplay.acm.org.
As much as we’re hoping to bring the community together in the beautiful city of Vienna we strongly believe that going virtual is the right decision to take in these unprecedented times to allow everyone to safely participate. Thank you for your ongoing support of CHI PLAY. Stay safe and playful.
