CHI PLAY 2022 – Information on Covid-19 for In-Person Attendees

As organizers of CHI PLAY 2022, we are aware that the pandemic is still causing disruption to everyone’s lives. To help you make an informed decision about your attendance of CHI PLAY 2022, we have summarized important information on our approach to Covid safety at the in-person conference, and we provide further information on the situation in Germany here.

Should your question not be covered on this website, or in case of individual requests, please do not hesitate to reach out to us directly via covid@chiplay.acm.org.

Covid safety measures at CHI PLAY 2022 (in-person event)

The main measure at the conference venue will be mandatory masking for all attendees regardless of the local measures at the time of the conference. We encourage the use of highly effective FFP2 or KN95 masks (FFP2 masks are widely available at German supermarkets and drug stores at about 0,50€ per piece).

We further encourage regular self-testing (tests are widely available at German supermarkets and drug stores at about 3,00€ per test). Participants who – at any time before or throughout the event – test positive for Covid may not enter the venue or must immediately leave, and are expected to follow the local regulations for quarantine and isolation that apply in Germany (see https://www.zusammengegencorona.de/en/multilang-ich-habe-corona-was-soll-ich-tun/).

Covid measures in Bremen and in Germany

In Germany, Covid measures are handled by the different states (i.e., the state of Bremen) as well as the federal government. Because measures are continuously in flux, we only provide links to the official sources of information here. Via https://www.bremen.de/corona/corona-faq-englisch, you can access the latest information on the local situation and measures in Bremen, and https://www.zusammengegencorona.de/en/ offers general information provided by the federal government. At https://www.auswaertiges-amt.de/en/coronavirus/2317268, you can learn more about the general situation in Germany, including requirements for entering the country. Please ensure that you check these prior to your departure so that you are up-to-date on the latest measures. Should you have further questions, do feel free to reach out to us via covid@chiplay.acm.org, but please keep in mind that we can only offer you our lay interpretation of the official rules.

Covid measures upon re-entry of your home country or next point of travel

Please be aware that some countries also have requirements for re-entry (e.g., provision of a negative PCR test result). Please ensure to check these individually.
