Publication Fees
There is a mandatory publication fee for each and every accepted submission. This fee funds the publication of accepted submissions and is separate from the conference registration costs. To pay the fee, one author for each accepted submission will need to register the paper via the conference registration system (CVent) and make the payment. This does not require the author to register for conference attendance. There will be an option for free non-attendance registration (Publication Only), and a single registration may be used to pay for multiple publication fees. For example, if you are a ACM/SIGCHI Professional Member, want to attend in-person, and pay the associated publication fee for one paper, this would mean one On-site Attendee – ACM/SIGCHI Professional Member and Author Fee is due, overall totalling $550 USD (early; $700 USD for late) + $200 USD.
Author Fee: Full Paper | $200 USD |
Author Fee: Extended Abstracts | $200 USD |
If you have accessibility requests that are time-consuming to organize or depend on schedules of other professionals (e.g., you are in need of a sign language translator), please reach out directly to a11y@chiplay.acm.org and we will do our best to support you.
Some parts of the sessions, chats, questions, and answers will be captured and streamed and/or made available for later viewing. Please also be aware that – in the case of in-person attendance – you may be captured by camera and streamed to the online audience, e.g., while seated in the auditorium, and that you give consent to being filmed in these settings.
Please note: You cannot register for this event unless you give consent.
If you require financial support to attend CHI PLAY 2023 and are a SIGCHI member, please be aware of the opportunities offered through the Gary Marsden Travel Awards (see https://sigchi.org/awards/gary-marsden-travel-awards/) and the SIGCHI Development Fund (see https://sigchi.org/community/membership/)
You can apply for a compassionate waiver if you have demonstrated financial need, and that you have exhausted and/or are ineligible for other funding, such as: the Gary Marsden Travel Awards; financial support from your supervisor (if applicable); and, institutional support. If you would like to apply for a compassionate waiver please contact the General Chairs: gc@chiplay.acm.org. In your email, please indicate the following: i) whether you are applying for an On-site or Online Attendee fee waiver; ii) your funding status, iii) other funding you have applied for, and iv) projected costs for attending CHI PLAY 2023 (approximate is fine). You may also include any other background information that might be helpful. The limited amount of compassionate waivers will be allocated according to need, and evidence that you have exhausted other funding avenues. We encourage individuals who identify with equity-seeking groups to apply. The deadline for applying for compassionate waivers is September 1st, 2023.
