EA Tracks Update

In this blog, we share a brief update on our extended abstract (EA) track submissions. This year, similar to the full papers track, we received record-breaking submission numbers for the EA-tracks. Overall, the numbers are as follows:

  • Work-in-Progress: 91 submissions (up from 68 last year)
  • Connections: 5 submissions (6 last year)
  • Perspectives on Play: 17 submissions (24 last year)
  • Doctoral Consortium: 14 submissions (8 last year)
  • Student Game Design Competition: 17 submissions (17 last year)
  • Interactivity: 14 submissions (7 last year)

The largest increase compared to last year appears to be in the WIP track, with a 34% rise in submissions. The Student Game Design Competition and Connections tracks saw similar numbers of submissions, while Interactivity and DC also experienced noticeable increases. The only significant decrease was observed in the PoP track. This could be attributed to the wonderful efforts made by PoP chairs to clearly outline the type and scope of submissions they were seeking in the call for PoP papers. As a result, authors may have had a clearer understanding of the suitable submissions and directed their work to other more appropriate tracks.

Currently, the review process is underway for all EA tracks and the authors can expect to hear from us mid-July. We have also worked with the EA track chairs and the publisher to finalize the camera ready deadline for the EA tracks. After careful considerations and discussions, we have moved up the camera-ready deadline for the EA tracks to August 7 to better align with the TAPS process required by the ACM.

We wish everyone a great summer and look forward to hosting all authors here in Tampere.
