6th street
The world famous sixth street is home to many bars and live music venues. Closed off at night, it’s a great place to wander around and explore. Be sure to check out the Firehouse pub, a speakeasy behind a bookcase.

Rainey street
Rainey Street historic district is a slightly more grown up version of 6th street. Many great restauraunts are located there, including Bangers, an outdoor eatery specializing in bangers and mash of all kinds. Also check out the container bar, a bar built out of shipping containers.

Esther’s Follies
A hilarious sketch comedy show that’s been running in Austin for over 30 years, includes singing, dancing, and even a magician. Shows are at 8pm and 10pm and 25 dollars for general admission. This is definitely worth seeing.

All the donuts you could eat. Everything is a doughnut here and it’s oh so worth it. Even the salad comes with a doughnut.
Torchy’s Tacos
Local taco place, amazing. I recommend the trailer park, but get it trashy.
Franklin’s BBQ
Prepare to wait in line for the best barbecue you’ll ever have. Show up before 9 to ensure they don’t run out. It’s an event, but it’s worth it.
If you don’t want to wait for Franklin’s, Stubb’s is a suitable alternative. Also an outdoor music venue.

Barton Springs
Swim in the famous Barton springs for two dollars or take one of the many walking paths and swim in one of the pools located off the trail for free. The water is cool and deep this year.
Barton Creek Greenbelt
More swimming holes are located along the Barton Creek greenbelt.
Graffiti Park
Large outdoor park with graffiti. It’s participatory, so flex your creative muscles and leave your mark while you’re here.

Texas State Capitol
A piece of Texas history and a beautiful piece of architecture in it’s own right, the Capitol building is worth checking out, free and open to the public.
Texas State History Museum
The museum offer different exhibitions, films, and events. It is a great place to learn about the history of Texas.
